A few more

A few more from our park trip yesterday. Ever notice how much better you can feel with just a little fresh air? It turns grumpy, sleepy babies into giggling, jumping bursts of happiness. It works on grumpy Mama's too. How quickly piles of laundry and to-do lists get forgotten when the rays of sun hit your face. The sound of my children's laughter as they dance through the bright blades of grass.
bliss. motherhood. happiness.

Fairies Everywhere

{D} and {M} are completely infatuated with fairies right now. They spend hours at the park and in the yard scouting for them. Nights are used to dream about fairies and the day, they may actually meet one. {D} ponders why someone could actually not believe in them..or worse, not even care.

On a recent trip to the park the kids saw a REAL fairy. They had a magical experience that they will never forget [their words-lol]. While looking for fairies, birds or the spare monster running around in the woods waiting to gobble them up, they came across a little floating, glowing speck. I was quickly hushed and told I was in the presence of a live fairy.

After a quick look, I realized I had no idea what they were looking at. It had a faint white glow and was drifting as if on the wind, but there was none. I looked closer trying to see what kind of bug it was, but that failed too. It wasn't fuzz either, which was my second guess.

In the end, I never figured out what it was. The kids have talked about it ever since. They say wasn't it cool, they day we saw that fairy! {M} says it was magical. While I have no idea whether it was a bug, fuzz, or fairy. I will always remember the day "we" saw the fairy. The magic in my kids eyes, the wonder crossing over to even me.

The kids decided this was the entrance to the fair wild-the land if the fairies.

Here's a quick shot I took of the "fairy". Not the best shot, as it appears only as a speck, but the day is fresh and glowing in my memory.

How long does it take?

How long does it take for a curious toddler to figure out how to open the latch on the brand new gate you made just to keep him on the porch?
About 45 seconds!!

We retreated inside early, many times this summer due to little mister {L}. He spends all his time trying to jump off the porch and make a run straight for the street. The older kids have been whining about not getting to be on the porch as much this summer. To be perfectly honest, many times I just didn't have the energy for the non-stop chaos man.
For the past several years I had thrown around the idea of my husband building a gate for the porch. It seemed to be the thing that always turned into next week, and then next summer.... After spending some of his own time chasing our littlest angel, he finally decided it was time.

Yesterday morning, I was so excited to sit out in the fresh morning air and calmly drink my coffee without my son hurling himself from the top of the stairs at every chance. Ahh, the birds were chirping, the weather tepid....and then he realized the door had a latch. Game over!! Haha, luckily a handy, baby latch saved the day and keeps him in.

The irony of the whole thing was enough to send me eerily laughing my head off. {D} actually asked me if I was ok....or if something was wrong. Maybe he thought I had finally gone mad.
Hmmmm...let me just fix this!

Who me? I would never!
