A few more

A few more from our park trip yesterday. Ever notice how much better you can feel with just a little fresh air? It turns grumpy, sleepy babies into giggling, jumping bursts of happiness. It works on grumpy Mama's too. How quickly piles of laundry and to-do lists get forgotten when the rays of sun hit your face. The sound of my children's laughter as they dance through the bright blades of grass.
bliss. motherhood. happiness.

Looking for homes

These guys will be making their debut at Craftin' Outlaws this weekend. I'm really excited about them. There are a limited number so anyone wanting to adopt one, or a few, come down early. Back to work now. Enjoy your day!

Hats

I've been meaning to show off these hats I made last month. It's getting closer & closer to Spring now, but they sure have gotten their use so far and will be perfect for next year also. It's March in Ohio though, I'm sure they will get at least a couple more days of use!

I used the pattern from More Last Minute Knitted Gifts. It was a super easy & crazy fast to knit up. I'm already planning to make some for Christmas gifts next year. Best of all the kids really like them.

Over the Weekend

Over the weekend, Miss {M} went to her very first sleepover! What's more fun than a plain, old sleepover? Mama, with little nursling, Baby {J} tagging along. We stayed at my college roommate's [and long-lost friend] home. The little girls watched movies, ate pizza & cookies and giggled. The mom's watched movies, ate pizza & cookies, reminisced about college while giggling. A great mix of old & new friends-fun times for all.

Ready for Action

After a fun day at the zoo, Little {L} was anything, but ready for action. He is the funniest child! He will wear anything on his head, but a hat. Everything can become a hat-bowls, old coffee containers, scarves. The possibilities are endless. I actually made him an orange, Yo Gabba Gabba hat and he prefers the Folgers container with a ball cap underneath. Shoes can be worn as accessories for arms and ears! Boots are a must have even in 100 degree heat!

Little {L} often runs & runs so he won't fall asleep. He spent the last part of the day racing against sleep. Once he was contained to the car, it was all over. I love that he fell asleep with his "hat" on still!

M.I.A

I've been away from the blog for a whole week. No, we didn't take an impromptu vacation, just busy with everyday things and 4 children to make happy. We've spent the week hanging out at Comfest, visiting friends, riding bikes, dancing, enjoying the lovely weather, and lots of baby snuggling-LOTS!

We made it to Comfest this year-even with four little one's in tow. We've gone every year since we moved to Columbus, so it felt right to take the newest baby along for the fun. We mostly hang out during the day now that we have kids. Back in the day it was a weekend of hanging out, drinking beer and enjoying the music & the people watching. The only thing that has changed is the drinking beer part...mama always seems to be pregnant or nursing. Truthfully, I don't miss it one bit.

Family Portrait

Just your average family photo--if your the Adams Family! Haha! The funniest thing is this is the only photo we have of our entire family together since we've added Baby {J}.

Gotta love summer, grandma's and face paint together!

Earth Day Party

Little {L} turned two year old last week. Over the weekend we had an Earth Day themed birthday party. The kids had SO much fun! We had decorations made from natural & recycled items. An earth cake, including an earth colored inside! Seedling cupcakes made with chocolate frosting and green jelly beans, "sprouting" from the dirt.

The backdrop is made from upcycled paint chips. I had a whole bunch of paint sample books from the last time we painted. A quick circle punch job, and then they were glued to yarn. Mr. {D} was proud to say all day that he picked the stick they were hung from.

I made these little journals to give to the children at the party.

Peek a boo!

Go Green!!

growing up

Little {L} will turn two this week! Yes two years old already. I have no idea where the time has gone. One minute he was this sweet little newborn snuggling in close to sleep, and the blink of an eye...he's an adventurous, tough little explorer.
He's grown into such a funny little personality. The other kids laugh and say no one can ever stay mad at Little {L} cause he has special, magic charming powers. Sometimes, I think they are so right! Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

Andrea Creates nominated me for a Kreative Blogger Award a few weeks ago. It's been so crazy that I never got a chance to get to it. Then it occurred to me that Kym from Sugarmouse , had also nominated me for a Sunshine Award quite some time ago. Sorry guys! This baby bean has been slowing me down more than I'd like. So here's 7 new things about me:

[1. ]I love ANYTHING having to do with vampires. I've read hundreds of books with vampire story lines! I can't turn down a vampire movie either, no matter how stupid it may look.

[2. ]Sewing is not my first creative outlet. I have been a painter since I was a young child. I studied painting and design in college. I taught myself how to sew after mr. {D} was born. With a hectic household full of young children, I don't paint very often these days, but the love is still there, waiting to find the time again.

[3. ]I love being pregnant. Lots of women cringe at the thought, but not me. I feel so special having a new little being growing stronger each day inside me. Can't wait to meet baby #4 in a few weeks!

[4. ]I've been with my husband since high school. We met when I was 15 years old. Ahhh, young love, lol

[5. ] If we suddenly won the lottery and were able to have a bigger house, I'd be THRILLED to have a few more kids.

[6. ] I love napping in the sunshine on a cool, spring day. Replenishes the soul!

[7. ] I reorganize [as in move all the furniture] in my house often. My husband jokes that the ONLY place the couches have not been is on the ceiling. I like a change what can I say?

In lieu of nominating other bloggers, how about anyone who reads this post, add a comment with one new tidbit of information about you.

Eggs!

We spend the weekend fighting through a cold--that everyone here managed to pick up! It was LONG week last week, so Saturday we needed something fun to lift our sick spirits.

Easter Egg coloring seemed to be the perfect choice! This was the first year that we dyed both brown and white eggs. Typically all we have in the house are brown eggs. I have to go to another grocery store to pick up white eggs. After seeing a post on Ohdeedoh about brown eggs, I thought we'd give it a shot. They turned out great!

Little {L} liked breaking and eating the eggs more than coloring them. He went through quite a few that were thrown from the table with a menacing giggle.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I finally finished the kids embroidered dolls- on Saturday night at 11pm! Just in time. The front pieces were embroidered over the past few weeks. Once complete they are backed with a coordinating fabric and then stuffed like a pillow. Add a few stitches to seal them up and your done!

We also made little mailboxes for the kids from pretty scrapbook paper to hold our handmade cards. [yes, my husband actually helped!] It was fun making something with him, and the kids were thrilled to play with them all day on Sunday...well inbetween eating cupcakes, brownies and candy! I think they ate more "goodies" in one day than they have their whole lives! It was a nice special thing for them.

It was really fun, and the kids love their dolls. A great gift idea if you plan ahead and have the time. I'm glad I started these when I did, or they would not have been finished. Lots of time, but lots of smiles from the kids when they got them too! So worth it!

My sister got me the cool girls pattern as an early [2months early!] birthday gift. Thanks little sister!! You can get your own -here-
The little cowboy and batboy pattern can be found on Badbird's blog.

Fun little paper mailboxes made from this easy & quick tutorial! Also a placemat for Daddy-couldn't share that one earlier cause he peeks here from time to time!

Over the Weekend

Friday afternoon a winter snow storm blew into town. We usually don't see too much snow here [well, I grew up in Cleveland, so that's what I use for comparison]. The kids love to play in the snow and be silly together. They even got to make a snowman with Daddy! Fun!!

The snow actually makes it less gloomy & bleak here. I look out the window and see a nice, bright wintery day!
