Creating

Lots of making going on at our home. Between Kunklebaby Christmas orders and all our holiday gifts that need made, our days have been full. I've spent the past few months knitting and we'll spend the last few weeks before Christmas sewing. The kids have their own long list of "to do's", like Christmas cookies, clay, gingerbread houses and their own gift making. Mama is finishing scarves, new dolls, quilts, ornaments and some homemade baking too.

It's such a happy time of year for us. We are all excited to see the extended family soon. With most of our relatives 2+ hours away, it's becoming a special treat.

4 months

Four months... so short, but so long at the same time! In four months, it's hard for me to remember our family without you. You have stolen everyone's heart with the sweet smiles you share so freely, and the wonderful sound of your laughter. You seem to be growing so fast, I love watching you change, but also secretly want to keep you tiny somehow-a magic bubble or anti-aging elixir. Keep you my tiny, sweet little babe-so fresh & new. -love-

New Pants

Baby {J} , is one big boy! I have a few baby sewing books that I've been eyeing since my pregnancy. I convinced myself to wait until we knew whether we had a son or daughter to start "really" sewing for him or her.

Well, at 3 months old, [yes, he turned 3 months over the weekend-time is flying] he is already in size 12-month clothes. [yikes!] Many of the baby patterns in books only go up to a size 12, or 18 month size. [blah-for people whose babies come out around the 9-10lb range!] I figured I better get going if I wanted to use a few of the patterns. These are the first pants I made specifically for {J}-many, many to follow. He has a matching dog shirt that didn't make it into these pictures. These pants are made from a pattern in the Amy Butler book, Little Stitches. I'm going to try and make one of the fun hats in the book, while his head is small enough to fit.

The new Anna Marie Horner book, is great because the sizes for babes, goes to 24m. I'm looking forward to making the little jacket in the book, and a few pairs of the quick Change trousers. I made a pair already [yes-super easy!], but they are still too large and will be winter pants.

May the next 3 months, be just as wonderful as the first 3 with you baby!

Sunshine & Smiles

I'm excited to say the novelty of the baby has not worn off yet. You know what I mean, one day the kids are arguing over who can hold him. The next they are rolling their eyes if you ask them. So far, we have not gotten to that point. The kids actually argue about how many times the baby smiled at them that day--and then try to beat the other. They are smitten with their new baby brother.

Every morning, after I drag myself out of bed, I am greeted with, "Can I hold the baby?" then, "Noooo, me first!". Little {L} quickly follows that with, "milk, milk, please", which has more the tone of "Milk, NOW LADY!".

With such a smiling, happy baby, I can't help, but feel less grumpy at 7:30am. Baby Unicorn always wakes up smiling and ready for a new day. He's so sweet and giggly in the morning that I sometimes forget how much I hate mornings...sometimes.

Caught you!

Finally caught a pic of that amazing smile! Even though I know I will see a million smiles from him over the years, these first one's are extra special to me. Every time I get a big grin, my heart melts! A little bit of magic in that face!

What's new...

Someone is smiling! He is making sure his Mama DOESN'T catch a picture of it either! His new mission in life: Smile often, but whatever I do, DON'T get caught!
Pictures or not, I couldn't be happier to see the sweet smiles that dance across his face. He lights up when he realized I've walked into the room and gives a sweet little coo. These are the moments in life that matter. The moments I want to wrap up in a pretty box and hold close to my heart forever.

-Oh yeah, the crown you ask? Doesn't every little boy smile & giggle when wearing a purple crown? The bigger kids made crowns for everyone to wear over the weekend. My favorite was the bright pink one made for Daddy!-
