Quilts are done!

I finished up two more quilts yesterday. Hooray!! The brown one has hand sewn binding. It was able to stitch the binding while teaching the kids about adding with the number one yesterday. My favorite squares feature the dancing foxes. It's a Heather Ross Kokka import fabric. You can't tell from the picture, but it also has dancing frogs and bunnies.

The blue/green one has some cool binding also. After making this bias tape, I wanted to sew it onto everything!

I like that both of these quilts could be for a baby of either gender. I am in love with blue for girls-really, any color besides pink. Don't get me wrong, I like pink too, but overall, baby girl stuff has an overwhelming amount of it! Of course this means, my daughter has declared pink is her favorite color. Isn't that the way it always goes? Lucky for me, my boys like blue!

Today's plan are not too exciting. Mr. {D} has a doctors appointment with an ENT. Hopefully that goes well. The color of the week is red, and we are still working on T's and the numbers zero and one. {L} the littlest giant, is running through the house causing havoc and so happy about it.

What does your week hold for you?

Busy Busy

Super busy here with stuff that should have been finished weeks ago. Still working on {M}'s dress and a few[gulp-4] gifts-all of which need to be complete by Thursday night. Lots to do, and no motivation to do it.

I am in need of a "sleeping vacation"! I need a few days of just hanging out in bed...reading, sleeping, relaxing, no kids, no hubby and absolutely NO thinking about anything! Now with that said, I live in imaginary land if I even think it will ever happen.

A girl can always dream, right?

Here's some new Organic, handprinted zip pouches that are being added to the shop.

Lots of pretty new pins also.

{ Kunklebaby Organics }

I have been working on a new Organic Collection from Kunklebaby. It will include a line with all 100% organic cotton fabrics. They are super soft-the ultimate in luxury for baby. Eco friendly is a great bonus! Organic cotton is free of pesticides. Cotton crops has the highest use of pesticides! Yuck! The fabrics are also from mills found in the United States.
Many of the designs are handprinted using my own artwork and designs.

Check the shop throughout the week for newly added pieces to the collection. This sweet pea bib will be in the shop later this week. Pea's are handprinted using textile ink. Since they are handprinted, each piece will be one of a kind-none of the the bibs will be exact replica's. So not only are you helping the environment, but your child gets their own special, useful piece of art too!
I'll be adding more bibs, clothing for boys and girl, and some accessories!

{ Coming Soon! }

Pssssttttt......The Kunklebaby Organic Collection is currently in the works. I am very excited to start offering organic choices. The fabric is so soft and luxurious. For my loyal blog followers, a little extra tidbit of information: the organic collection will feature my own handprinted designs. So each piece is a one of a kind creation. I am working hard to unveil several pieces at the same time.

I have been dreaming of incorporating my artwork into Kunklebaby and the Organic Collection is the first step. In 2009, I am hoping to offer some printed work also. My first love was painting. I miss the days of creating late into the evening...and sometimes morning. With my growing family, time to paint has become smaller and smaller. I have so many pieces in my head, just needing to be created and shared with the world.

With a few home renovations we have in the works, I will be getting an actual studio space-just for me!! I'm hoping this allows me to work a bit more in my favorite medium. I hope to be decorating nurseries from textile to the walls.

Bumbleberry Baking

Looking for some yummy treats? Look no further than Bumbleberry Baking. Delicious, rich goodies to satisfy any sweet tooth!

* Tell us about your shop:
Bumbleberry Baking Co. is an organic baked goods company which produces delicious muffins and cookies. We bake in small batches, using the finest organic ingredients and never including additives or preservatives. We always bake and ship same day so our customers can receive the freshest possible baked goods. We focus on the importance of baking something from scratch, and we like to say that our products are always made by hand, from the heart.

* How did you get started?
I started Bumbleberry after being a graphic designer for 3 years and wanting a change in my career path. It was important for me to still maintain my creativity, so I focused on what I loved to do and what experience I had learned working at a small business, and decided to pursue organic baking. After being a “buyer-only” on Etsy.com for an entire year, I was ready to become a seller and join the amazing and talented community of craftsmen and artisans and be a part of Etsyʼs edible section.

* Where does your shop name come from?
I first started brainstorming about adjectives that I thought this company should have, as well as how those terms should be shown in the logo, packaging, and overall brand. Basically, how would I appear in the marketplace. I thought the company should appear to be playful, lighthearted, fresh, warm and inviting. Then I started flipping through cookbooks, looking for descriptive words or baking terminology. I had a lot of the obvious, “sugar” and “sweet stuff”, but then came across the name of a mixed berry pie: Bumbleberry. I really loved the sound of it, the word itself is very whimsical. It definitely could represent the sweetness of a baking company, and encompassed all of the adjectives that I knew I wanted my brand to have, without being so literal.

* Advice for other artist?
Definitely the best piece of advice I can give is be true to yourself. Love what you do and have
confidence in it. It can be disheartening when there is so much youʼre up against to really succeed, but kept persevering because it will pay off. Focus on your product and learn how to make it different from the rest. Donʼt forget the little things, like a handwritten note included in your package. And always have great customer service!

* Favorite or best selling product?
My favorite product is the Oatmeal Pumpkin Muffins, they have such great texture and really stay moist from the pumpkin. I love them in the fall, when the air is turning crisp and the flavors of pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg really are satisfying. I also love the Chocolate Chunk Cookies, which are extremely rich. Itʼs a great cookie to share with someone special because theyʼre so decadent and are so large!

* Any additional info you find interesting or relevant :
A great book that I would recommend to any creative person that is interested in starting their own company or selling their own products is Craft, Inc: Turn Your Creative Hobby into a Business by Meg Mateo Ilasco. I found it much more interesting than other small business books I read because itʼs written by a designer so she was able to speak about very serious business topics in a refreshing way. Itʼs also a wealth of info, from the basics of applying for licenses, to creating your brand, to marketing yourself, to selling wholesale. It was very inspiring for me, besides being very informative.
