Weekending, and a little mud.

I had plans of getting the last bit of the garden planted Saturday while the baby slept. {yes, the not really a "baby" anymore, but I can't stop calling "the baby", baby} It seems the kids had other plans. While I was finishing up the raised beds, the children played in the sprinkler-so I thought. What they were really doing was creating the mother of all mud pits. It's funny how kids can do things you don't even realize while they are 10 feet away. It started with a few mud pies, I heard that happening. Next the kids were a little messy. Next glance they were COVERED in mud. What does every mother do at that point? Grabs the camera!!

So much for my idea of planting. Even in the 90 degree heat, the mud never dried that day {or came close}. Was it worth putting off the planned gardening? OH YES! They were so silly, giggling and having such a great time. A little mud and laughter, never hurt anyone! If it meant I never get that plot planted, it would have been worth it. I'm off to finish planting, and maybe break out some spray paint today.

Happy Memorial Day everyone. I'm so looking forward to this summer!

Happy Friday!

I'm so happy that Friday is here! Rain is in the forecast all weekend, but I don't even care. I'm so looking forward to having my husband home to help care for the kids and getting some last minute things done before the baby. [hopefully sewing if I can find the energy]. We all had a great time at the birthday party last weekend, but this weekend is slated for rest & relaxation!

Here's some bright & warm colored brooches for any of you out there also dealing with rain. Hope they cheer you up! They will be added to my shop over the next few days. Enjoy!

Weekend

I've got a date with my studio this weekend! Lots of work to get finished and just as much that needs started. Although as far as "dates" go, I'll gladly take this one.

Between making gifts for {D} & {M}'s upcoming birthday's and getting ready for the show I have lined up [I'm not even going to get into Christmas gift making] I have my work cut out for me this fall.

Busy isn't a bad thing, with the right scheduling I'll be fine. The unfortunate thing right now is having a house full of sick kids, and a mama that woke up with a sore throat today. No fun at all! Truthfully, I'm looking forward to a little piece and time to myself this weekend. Just the whirr of the sewing machine...if I sew fast enough it will drown out the crying and yelling the kids do in the other room. "Why is Mama sewing again? When will she be done Daddy? MAMAAAAA!!!!!Followed with my husband asking me some silly question every ten minutes in hopes that I will just come out of the studio and resume my role as mother.

So lovely Fabric, it's date. I'll meet you in the studio bright & early for some sewing and cleaning. What are your weekend plans?

Over the Weekend

Our weekend was filled with lots of activities! We started out by making our weekly trip to the Farmers Market. The corn & peaches we picked up were phenomenal! Our friends Anne & Vic met us there, so we got in a little friend time too!

Next, we headed off to a Dog festival being held in town. We opted to leave our pooch at home [a fact {M} was NOT happy about]. Chasing three kids around and making sure Lucy didn't run off, seemed like less of a relaxing day than not. Vic & Anne brought their two doggies though, so we were not without any 4 legged friends. The best part was watching all the dogs fetch, swim and play at the dog pond. It was hilarious! Small dogs, big dogs, hairy dogs and crazy looking dogs-all with their tongues hanging out and smiles dancing across their faces!

I also started working on this blanket & bib set for a friend. I only have the tops complete, but I love how they turned out. Little singing birdies.
Uhhmmmm, what about your fun filled weekend of cleaning you ask? It's gotten put back on the calendar for next weekend. I tidied up a little, does that count?

His shirt says it all Mr. Trouble. Haha, but he's just so sweet at the same time! He's signing that he's "all done" in the stroller here.

Columbus Art's Fest 2009

The annual Arts Fest was this past weekend. It was so much fun! I got to see all kinds of awesome, unique artists, listen to some music and have fun with the kids.

We typically only go once, but this year added another trip. Friday night we checked out all the work and just kinda hung out. Saturday we hit all the kids activities and finally got to see the Egyptian Exhibit at the Columbus Arts Museum.
The kids made tie-dye flags, origami books, badges, bug masks and had their faces painted. {M} went with the Egyptian princess, and {D} picked and arm plate with the eye of Ra. He didn't want to smudge his work with his sunglasses-lol.

{L} was happy as always. He spent the day waving at dogs and other children....and smiling, at everyone!
