A little of this..

We had a little of this, and that to celebrate:

Eight years! Eight years, since he joined our family & made me a mother. Eight years, since I first held his little hand and kissed each of those fingers. Eight years, since I realized my life would never be the same again, and it was the greatest feeling I'd ever had!

I love his determination. The way he always has to do things just a little {sometimes a lot} different than everyone else. I love his passion. I love his quest for knowledge. I love... him!
Happy Birthday Kid! Your amazing!

six.

I hope six still has room for unicorns, silly faces, snuggles with mama, holding hands, the mystique of fairies, late night chats about dreams & wishes.
All the magic in the world is wrapped up in this little girl. My little girl who is quickly becoming not so little anymore. It seems like yesterday she was placed in my arms. A wee-little tiny babe. So much smaller than any of the boys ever were! I was scared to hold her-didn't want to break her. She is an old soul with an amazing quest for knowledge and love. She continue's to amaze me with her wisdom & sweetness. The past six years have been magical for me getting to know her. Just being near her. I'm so lucky to call you my daughter!
Happy Birthday sweet girl.

Earth Day Party

Little {L} turned two year old last week. Over the weekend we had an Earth Day themed birthday party. The kids had SO much fun! We had decorations made from natural & recycled items. An earth cake, including an earth colored inside! Seedling cupcakes made with chocolate frosting and green jelly beans, "sprouting" from the dirt.

The backdrop is made from upcycled paint chips. I had a whole bunch of paint sample books from the last time we painted. A quick circle punch job, and then they were glued to yarn. Mr. {D} was proud to say all day that he picked the stick they were hung from.

I made these little journals to give to the children at the party.

Peek a boo!

Go Green!!

{Under the Big Top}

The circus is in town...just kidding. We threw a circus themed party and needed some yummy circus cakes...mmmmm! These fun & easy elephant cake toppers were the perfect fit for the cupcakes. Super easy and add a fun element.
  1. Start by punching out circles with paper punch. We used 2" circles. You need 2 circles for each cupcake.
  2. Handstamp with a plain craft stamp each piece with whatever image matches your theme. The extra craft can carve their own stamps too.
  3. Take 2 circles, add a toothpick in between and glue them together plain old Elmer's Glue.
  4. Hold for a few seconds to let the glue set.
  5. Stick the toothpicks into the frosted cupcakes...and your DONE! Cute, fast and easy to match any theme.

These would be really fun for the upcoming holidays. Cute Merry Christmas, or Turkey images. A fun rainy day project with the kids too. They could draw their own images and color them with paint, crayons or markers.

And you can' t have a circus without the clowns! We used suckers to create a bouquet of balloons and to create a 3-d nose.
